Web Applications using Apache Maven, Java and JSP

In order to create Web Applications you nee:


Required Softwares

1) Java JDK
2) Eclipse IDE (GANYMEDE version): eclipse-jee-ganymede-SR2-win32.exe
3) Apache Maven: apache-maven-2.2.1.bin


1) Install Java JDK
2) Install Eclipe (Unzip into the Programs folder)
3) Install Apache Maven (unzip into Programs folder)

Set Environment Variables (user variables)

JAVA_HOME = C:Program FilesJavajdk1.6.x
M2 = %M2_HOME%bin
M2_HOME = C:Program Filesapache-maven-x
Path = %M2%;%JAVA_HOME%bin

Check if Maven and Java environment variables are set up correctly by entering this command in the command prompt: mvn –version
The Maven and Java information should appear on screen

Create a new Java Project in eclipse using the source files (eieweb)

In command prompt navigate to the location of the source file C:…eieweb and enter mvn eclipse: eclipse

This will start downloading plugins and libraries into C:Documents and SettingsMe(username).m2repository


If this failed you can put this files in that directory: maven-repository

Compile the program in Maven and run it by: C:…eieweb>mvn jetty:run

It will download more plugins and libraries

Running the Web Application

navigate to http://localhost:8080/eieweb/login.jsp

username and pass for this applicaiton are anthony (koala), milan (wombat)
