We suggest you think of three business names in case your first preference is not available. If the name you have chosen is already registered, you may have to consider your next preference.

You may check the register of names for your own reference on the National Names Index.
It is your responsibility to ensure that your proposed business name does not infringe any Trade Mark. Check with IP Australia.

The final determination on the availability and suitability of the name you wish to register will be made by this Office once we have received your application. Remember: Do not incur any expense eg. printing of stationery until you receive your certificate of registration.

An application form for registering a new business name (and changing the particulars to an existing business name) can be downloaded, completed and lodged with us (including payment).
